But, is there some kind of record or something saying I filed a claim?
I'm just worried about some kind of backlash when I sell my house

No, you are good. Plenty of people call to report claims of being hit by other drivers and having damages to their vehicles before the accident ever happens. Insurance companies never have a problem with this activity.

Well, are you going to offer anything of substance? Or, am I going to need to use a "frick off" on you?

Even if there is, you can likely withdraw it. Relax. If you don't have a claim they shouldn't increase your rates.

Fair. I apologize. I think you can withdraw the claim.

Yea I'm not too worried about the rate thing. They've been very reasonable to deal with both when I bought my house and when I was talking to them about dealing with a flooded house.
I didn't know if there was some type of legal file that stuck to the house or something though.
Thanks

That is just it, he did call in and file a claim. By definition, that is a claim. The fact that the claim wasn't paid is a separate issue.

I know some of you grease balls around here are in insurance sales. Gimme a consensus answer here.

Do they increase rates if they don't pay a claim? There is no way they will pay a claim without damages, right?

I don't know about how the flood program keeps records. Most homeowners insurance companies will show it as a claim filed with $0 payment.
If your flood claim was assigned to an adjusting company the adjuster still bills a small fee that is billed as a withdrawn claim.

Just tell them you jumped the gun because you heard flooding was bad in your neighborhood.

Your insurance record will show 1 claim for $0.00. It's no big deal; happens all the time.

As chad said, they will happily close your claim.
Although you shouldn't just file one because you think you have damage or to "get on the list."

I would hope that me costing them zero dollars would not raise my rates. I'd be pretty pissed about that.
Your premiums are likely going up no matter what. Part of the underwriting determination can be claims in a zip code. Areas more prone to damage pay higher premiums.

Yea I understand that. I was 100% sure I had 3" of water in my house and I feel bad about even calling now and taking up resources.

That's fine. I just don't want a drastic increase because I fricked up
