I contacted my insurance agent before I could get back to my house to let them know that I had water, wasn't sure how much, go ahead and put me on the list.

I made it to my House today and by the grace of God I somehow didn't get water in my house.

When I cancel my claim, will I still have some kind of flag saying a flood claim was initiated on the house? I feel like having one of the very few houses in STA with no flood history and no flood insurance claim would be a pretty big equity boost.

if you had resigned to the idea that your house was flooded enough to initiate a claim, it must have been a hell of a good feeling to see a dry house...

I had written mine off as a loss and spent 3 days sandbagging others houses. It's a spooky sight in my neighborhood. Piles and piles of Sheetrock and insulation piled up everywhere, and I got an inch of water in my little lawn mower shed.

I'm not too worried about it. My shits dry.

I just don't want a flag on it or something when I go to sell it. I don't want people to think I'm lying when I say it didn't flood.

Take Picts with date/ time stamp maybe for proof if it comes up?

May not do much on paper but couldn't hurt

This is correct. Once you make the call and they enter it into the system it is considered a claim.

After Katrina, I had them come out because my back fence was blown down. They refused to cover it for several questionable reasons. But that didn't stop them from citing it as a "claim" and raising my rates. Assholes.

I would hope that me costing them zero dollars would not raise my rates. I'd be pretty pissed about that.

ETA: before somebody asks why I don't call the lady, I'm waiting on insurance to call me back. They're obviously very busy.

I'm assuming they would be willing to submit a letter or email or something to me saying that I canceled the claim on account of no flood damage to my house.

Other than the flag of insurance fraud you may be okay.

They'd also assume people wouldn't submit claims for flood damage without having any flood damage though too so...

So telling them to not give me money is fraud?
