Academic rankings down, new holistic acceptance program is shite, does not want to work with LA community college to get more students into LSU, started to kill tailgating, more fees added to students instead of fee reductions (you want them to donate upon graduation!), did not grow endowment, horrible publicity for LSU during his tenure... I can keep going in on him for a fricking day

Not LSU.

We dropped significantly during his tenure.

Can someone tell me what qualifications Jay Dardenne has to run a major research university since his name is being floated as F. King’s replacement?

Jay ran his elected offices as if they were businesses, I don't doubt he would do the same with LSU (which is sorely needed). More than that though, he's a graduate of LSU and continues to be a big supporter (I think he's had basketball season tickets for at least the past 20 years).

If he went over there he would most likely bring his right-hand man, Randy Davis, with him. Davis is also an LSU alum and has been a season baseball ticket holder for many, many years.

Both are also football fans.

Anything would be a step up for fricking Alexander, having someone who has already been a decades-long supporter of the university would be an even bigger step up (even if it's not Dardenne).

He’s the embodiment of tenured educated elitist attitude. Too high brow for fun, thinks diversity and SJW matters will save the world. Probably hasn’t worked a fricking day in his life and scoffs at the idea.

We need our next President to be from the state. Someone who has a vested interest in the success of our university and state other than just a paycheck or their political standing.

Spineless liberal, alcoholic (heard multiple stories of him being drunk for meetings), and the sole reason why the Jimbo Fisher hire was squashed and Les stayed for another year.

So his ( Dardenne’s) redeeming qualities are that he’s not totally inept (arguable based on his horrible political career), that he’s an LSU fan, and that he’ll bring his unqualified/LSU fan/lifelong buddy with him?

Yea totally sign me up.

Eta: there are probably 200,000 people in this state who fit that criteria, and most of them weren’t really bad at every position they’ve held

That's what people want, someone that will support and give free reign to athletics while LSU academics continues to waller in mediocrity.

You can have good athletics and academics. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Jay Dardenne is probably not a good hire, but Alexander needed to go.

The university has taken a hit academically during his tenure.

Just because the hire MAY NOT be good does not mean we should keep the person who we know IS NOT good.

Hell, at a bare minimum, Dardenne may cause donations to actually come back, because those took a major hit over the past 7 years.

I want LSU to have the best academics as possible but most employers don't really care where you went to school a year out of college unless you went to Harvard or Yale or some other elite university.

LSU grads earn more than a number of SEC schools ranked ahead of them academically.

quote:

In the latest Payscale 2019-20 College Salary Report, LSU graduates are the highest ranked in Louisiana among public universities for both early-career and mid-career earnings. When looking at public SEC peers, LSU ranks third for early-career earnings behind only Texas A&M University and University of Florida, and third in mid-career earnings behind only Texas A&M University and Auburn University.

Among the 50 public flagship universities in the nation, LSU ranks in the top half in both early-career and mid-career earnings – 21st in early-career earnings and 16th in mid-career earnings.

Those stats/salaries are self reported.

I agree. So why don't we? Alabama does, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma all do too.

Alabama is tied with us in the US world report rankings

Oklahoma is marginally better

UF and UGA run laps around all 3. Nothing will change that

King and JBE killed the Jimbo hire (which ultimately seems to have worked out well for us) because the state was in a budget crisis. The athletic department is self funded and totally separate from the university's funds.

That and his holistic admissions policies pissed a lot of alumni off. He also trashed the state and university every chance he got. Good riddance

Baw that happened 2015 when Jindal was governor
