In some airports it can speed up check in. I've used my passport on the kiosk that they have there. Also it is great to have as a second means of identification.

What purpose do you have to use a kiosk in 2025?

Do you have a TWIC card? I think w/o passport or real ID, you have to go through more screening but it's a little faster with a TWIC card.

Don’t Have Your Acceptable ID?

The TSA officer may ask you to complete an identity verification process which includes collecting information such as your name and current address to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint, where you may be subject to additional screening.

You will not be allowed to enter the security checkpoint if you choose to not provide acceptable identification, you decline to cooperate with the identity verification process, or your identity cannot be confirmed.

If you have an active, dependent, or retired military id you can use that instead.

The possibilities for this one are endless. I envision this will be its own thread soon.

I don’t have a real I’d, figure my passport is enough. I did not want to go get another damn id, also don’t know where my birth certificate is and don’t care how I can get one, I don’t want to do it.

I don't have real ID. Flew out of New Orleans to New York 3 weeks ago using my TWIC card. Return flight out of LaGuardia I wasn't showing up in the system with my TWIC and was put in another line with a slip of paper indicating that I didn't have proper ID. Was in line with 3 other people. We waited about 15 extra minutes while the screeners ignored us but were allowed through just like everyone else.

I was able to fly MSY with just my TWIC card no problem.

The guy in Omaha would not let me. He told me it’s the first time he’s ever seen one. I had my passport just in case so I didn’t make a big deal about it.
