On vacation and leaving vacation early to fly out for work. I am realizing I don't have my passport and my driver's license is not a real ID. Online I have read that you may be able to fly but will be subject to extra screenings. Has anyone had to do this?

Where are you on vacation? If you’re in the US do you plan on going overseas without a passport? If you’re not in the US how did you get there without a passport?

This is not correct. There will just be more screening.

Okay, that is what it said online but am trying to confirm. I gave up with trying to get a real person from TSA on the line.

Dumb arse. It’s been talked about for years. And everyone should have a passport at all times. What else do you frick up in life about?

You can still fly. My brother in law ran into that recently and they let him board the plane.

Don’t you live in Houston? Have you not gotten a new ID in the last decade?

I saw it going down with a passenger at a small airport and it didn’t seem that big a deal. The TSA person just had a little laminated set of questions and it looked like the person got through without too much hassle.
I guess it probably could be a bigger pain in the arse at some bigger places.

In some airports it can speed up check in. I've used my passport on the kiosk that they have there. Also it is great to have as a second means of identification.

It’s illegal and unconstitutional for them to prevent an American citizen from flying within the United States
There might be extra screening, but you do not need a real id or passport to travel within this country if you are an American citizen
