Prob an afterthought and understood by those who regularly work out, but used to be a benchmark of success.
Would like to know how many average guys can’t do this?

The average American male weighs 198 lbs. so the answer is hell no for the average person
I would bet the average bench max for an American male is 150 lbs
So it’s not even close

If you can’t bench your own weight, you are a straight up vag

Use to work out bench pressing my weight - 8 reps, 3 sets. Got a very small hernia doing it.

Benching weight is a benchmark of success?
I don't know what year this was where this was the standard, but if you can't bench your weight, I'd lean toward calling you weaker than the average person.
I think you should be able to throw up 1.5x your body weight as a benchmark of success.

I can bench my weight at least 10 times in one rep.

The average American is 198 lbs and very fat. They aren’t benching their own weight

More general fitness and strength.

I’m 190 and do about that for 3x10 once a week

General fitness and strength doesn't equate to a benchmark of success, IMO.

Considering you aren't using rep correctly, I'm going to assume you can't.

I can bench 1.5x my body weight for 3-4 reps and about 3 sets. It’s my weakest lift though compared to squats and dead’s

I am a slacker in the weight training arena. im very active otherwise, swimming, chasing kids, etc.
It would be a struggle, but I believe I could get 1 rep. I weigh 165-170.

So someone that is 6'1 200lbs should be able to throw up 350 or they are weak?? GTFO

I generally bench two of my weights, not just one.
