reddit sucks, and it started its downfall when the mods there nearly universally decided that political things should only be discussed on specific boards. In practice, this really only meant a crackdown on normal thought in favor of degenerate leftist beliefs.

No not even factually close to being the case. I frequent 20+ subreddits and out of 10s of thousands of posts I can't remember one that was social/political or gave me any indication of the poster's hair color or soy intake. It is pervasive in the political and social forums but that is a small portion of the total of Reddit but if that is the main content you seek then that is what you will get.
