So target told me I couldn’t return an Xbox game without a receipt (gift) because i had already returned $100 in merchandise within a calendar year. Not sure if wal mart had the same policy
I think this only applies if you don’t have a receipt. They would let me swap it for something of equal value only unless I got the receipt.

This thread reminds me of people who claim to be frugal because they take bags full of condiments from fast food joints.
Trashy. As. frick.

My wife is currently banned from making returns for returning too many crappy Christmas gifts without a receipt.

If you have a receipt, I think there may be like a 180 day limit.
There also many be shorter limits on certain items like electronics, or, the "restocking fee" may apply.
A few week ago it was late one night and my daughter informed me she needed a certain kind of stockings for the next morning. I went over there and wasn't sure of the size so I bought two different sizes. They were maybe $6 each. Next day I brought the unused one back, and they refused to allow me to return it without a receipt, however, if I paid by card, they could look it up with my card. I did pay by card, they looked it up, and I got my money back.

I know they will put a no-return policy in place before hurricanes for things like generators.
They learnt from Katrina when everyone returned lanterns, generators, batteries and shite like that.
BTW, You related to old poster, ChefLepard(sp?).

A common scam is to go inside the store and steal an item, bring it back and return it. I’m sure if they suspected someone of doing this then that could be a possibility.

If you shop at Walmart and return items after using, you're poor and trashy af

My one example if kind of funny b/c I was nervous as hell about it and felt trashy as frick.
csb
I bought cheap steel-toes for an plant job interview. I got hired and found out we had a sweet shoe credit deal up to $200.
So I got fancy ones and returned the Walmart ones I wore once.
Believe it or not they do NOT take back worn shoes. But the customer service gal looked at mine and realized I wasn't being a total trashbag and that these shoes could be resold as new.

I worked returns at Walmart once in college.
Without fail it is methed up white trash that tries to pull this.
OP needs to get some respect for himself, or at least respect for other people.

If you would stop boozing for a couple days and clear your head, it would make sense to you really quickly. I promise.
