I imagine the food services and janitorial industries would overlook any indiscretions here. Can you empty a wastepaper basket? Scoop a serving of fries into a plastic container? Then you have nothing to worry about.

Like a year or so ago. Yeah. There was more to it than what was said here but the jist of it is that I was "posting while on the clock".
It's fine though.
Led me to where I am now and I'm a 100% more happy than before.

I am amazed (looking back) at the amount of time certain people spend on this board. It's only a matter of time before someone else gets the ax.

ETA: but for the purposes of this thread, I don't see how it wouldn't get you hired unless you drop your name on here

I think people who post pictures are crazy. If I can pick you out if a crowd bc you plaster yourself across TD, you should probably stop.

Yes, absolutely any online post is discoverable by the police, by employers, your spouse and especially, especially by lawyers.

I've had to testify at depositions in NYC over a dispute between a venture capitalist group and a company I used to work for years ago all over a 2 line email I sent. (I was a witness, not a defendant.)

I do some work at Auburn with Harbert School of business and when I talk to graduating seniors I always tell them that this is a big issue. And I do name SECR as one of the places that can get found.

Surprisingly most people tend to think Twitter is ok, but I know a lot of history on people who have gotten their asses fired over tweets.

I have no idea if any of my people post here or anywhere else, and I don't care. So long as they get budgets out on time and analyzed in time to get them distributed to the various departments. We get a printout every month of heavy internet users, and so far, none of my folks have ever been on it. So I don't go looking. About 15 years ago, however, I did have to fire a guy for cussing out an entire message board. But that was because the owners of the message board contacted our IT folks, and they contacted HR and they in turn contacted me. I had no choice.

And I certainly don't go looking for anyones facebook accounts or anything of that nature.

Should I perhaps start?

Edit: After a conversation with a manager in accounting and with a guy in HR, HR definitely does that sort of stuff. We don't have to worry about it, unless it a situation comes up where we do have to worry about it. Of course, the guy in HR wanted to know why I was asking. I hope "just curious" satisfied his curiosity.
