Or, don't charge for parking and just use the airport fees to maintain.... the fricking airport.

The QR code thing is great for the Long Term garage at MSY. It frequently fills up so I make a point to reserve a spot beforehand and pre-pay. I scan the code to get in and scan again to get out. It’s really not that complicated and for me at least has saved a few headaches.

Then......you need to get the app. by the time I get to my car the pharmacy has texted me that they're on it. another text when it's ready.

Don't forget to include the all important password and agreeing to user terms... and of course the password has to be such that there is about a one in a gazliion chance that someone can hack into it and find out what kind of antihistamine you are taking....

Have a plate scanner on the way in and on the way out. Charge you accordingly on the way out. What more could they possibly need?

How do propose they actually charge you based on this?

Whatever the rate is between the time the vehicle entered and the time it wants to leave?

What’s the confusion?

Flew out of MSY recently and did the online QR code thing, not an app, and it was pretty simple. It even shows you the availability to make sure you’re not trying for a full lot.

Yeah they don’t make you get an app. It’s easy as pie if you reserve online.

I recently got a ticket in the mail from GeauxPass for not paying a toll on the Belle Chase bridge. Not only have I never heard of the GeauxPass but there is no other way to pay the toll unless you have the app. I drove across it thinking since I didn’t have the pass I would be able to pay a real person or a via machine somewhere. Bar that, I guess they haven’t enacted the tolls yet.
Nope.
When I got the bill I called them and asked how I was supposed to pay.
Via app.
I don’t have the app.
We’ll mail you a bill.
But you’ll charge me more.
Yes, that’s the way it works, and the only way…unless you get the app.

So my toll is doubled because I don’t have the app, then mailing fee is twice that and then they charge you a convenience fee for any method you pay.
The only reason I go over there is for the air shows or in this case meeting some friends for lunch at Salvo’s. Sorry Salvo’s.

You still have to get payment information somehow

I use SpotHero app for all my parking in downtown Chicago. It’s brilliant. The only people that don’t like it are antiquated Boomers.

Well for starters it’s bullshite that you have to pay to park at an airport like Denver. As if they didn’t have a bazillion acres to spare

What about elderly people who are not tech savvy? I didn't think there was anything wrong with the take a ticket approach

I didn’t have to type anything in the other day. It hooked up to Apple Pay maybe? I forget. I just know I drove it, it scanned my plate, parked, scanned QR to pay, it already prefilled my plate, and that was it. I might (?) have checked off an Apple Pay button..? I had to have because I definitely didn’t take out my wallet.

When I left, it scanned my plate and immediately pinged me a receipt.

Those not tech savvy old farts surfed 35 third party booking websites to save $4 per airplane seat.

Sky Harbor is excellent, too.

Go to the app, reserve my covered spot, never have to worry if I'll have a parking spot. Scan the barcode, done.

MSY is a mess, as is typical

Did the QR parking in Destin and within an hour had fraudulent charges. Having to cancel the card while out of town is a huge PITA.

frick that… it’s not that hard to pay a couple of attendants to take the fees/money as people enter.

Sounds like that might cost the company money

Can’t have that
