Two governments, two permitting agencies, double the local government, more taxes, less cooperation between areas....nah, what could possibly be a problem with that?
So why not combine BRPD and EBR sheriffs? Every time the conversation gets started it gets shot down

doesn't even live in "St. George"?
But I bet he and many more would move there in a heart beat if it happens

Zachary and Central would support and all of St.George, so I think it would have a pretty good chance.
Voter turnout will play a large role in this, but just looking at population stats:
EBR = 440k
BR = 230k. City of Baton Rouge will be solidly against.
Unincorporated sections of BR that are not part of St. George = 40k? solidly against.
That pretty much seals the deal, right there but heres the rest:
Baker = 14k. Mostly against.
Central = 30k. Mostly for, but many will vote against because people moving out there for schools is good for them.
SG = 110k. Mostly for, but many will vote against incorporation, especially retirees and people who love private schools and just don't want to pay more taxes.
Zachary = 11k. Strongly for, as far as I can tell.

ANd in a 100 years we will say the same about St George

Thats asinine. EBRPSS is 85% black. THAT is segregation. St.George wants a school system that would be about 50/50, and we want segregation? Sorry, the facts don't support your claim.

But only those in the proposed area vote for the incorporation, then if that passes the larger area (possibly a statewide election)would have a vote on the potential school district, at that point St. George will be it's own city and I think people will vote in favor

You need to pay attention. This was in reference to a new school district. I pointed out that the divisive atmosphere may help get a city formed but it ensures that people in BR and some other areas will vote against any new school district in south baton rouge.
Which part of that don't you understand?

I disagree, I feel that once St George becomes a city, there will not be that big of a fight to form it's own school district, and there is the possibility that the formation of the new school district will be a state wide vote and not just parish wide
which part do you not understand? Maybe you need to pay attention.....why do you have to turn to such an arse instead of having a amicable conversation?

You feel that people in Baton Rouge will suddenly support the break-away school district? What gives you that impression? If anything, you're just going to anger them more - depending on how much of the tax base SG grabs.

A possibility, eh? It's not just a possibility but a certainty that a new school district would require a majority vote in both the parish and state. The parish vote is the one that I'm saying will fail.

I am being amicable. You're speaking about your feelings. I'm applying logic to facts and data.

So AP and LP are more segragated than EBR?
Yes and no. There are less African Americans as a percent than BR (at least on the east bank of the parish), but the blacks that are there are much more heavily middle class and working class than entitled and poor. On the east side, there are country blacks (mostly lower middle and working class) in Geismar, Dutchtown, Darrow, and Gonzales. The West bank of the parish (i.e. Donaldsonville) is overwhelmingly African American with a more "urban" black culture marked with high levels of poverty and entitlement.
Basically, the blacks on the west side are more "thug" and the east side are more country.
It's demographics. Color has nothing to do with it, it's all about economic standing and 2 parent households. Most of the black children on the east bank have 2 parents in their homes, those on the west do not.

What is the 50/50 based on? Current enrollment in public school of students in the St. George area? What happens when private schools kids/parents decide they want to go to public school?
