BS. We all know our property taxes will increase. And my kids will stay in private schools.
My thoughts are, if a group if people want to improve themselves, who would want to stop them? I live here, and will support them with my tax dollars. I've been supporting a failing school system for years with no changes. I'm tired of it.

Ultimately people in the St George area who don't do/don't want to do private schools want to take control of the area public schools away from the nightmare that is the EBR School Board. Have to be a city to do that...
No you don't, and there's no guarantee that them becoming a city would result in them getting their new school district. The fact that they aren't their own city was one of the reasons that they were denied initially, but it's not a sure thing that they'll get an independent district if the city is formed and it's not impossible that they might get an independent district in the future even without forming a city.

I just wish they'd let them have their ISD and be done with it. Turning this into some Sandy Springs - Part 2 isn't the solution.

you are probably trolling but
St. George parents want better schools
BR folks see that as being racist
Moral...wanting better is racist

I'm in same boat.
But, this is what I would like to see happen.

We all know our property taxes will increase.
They have a statement on their website which says no additional taxes will be needed for a new city or for a new school district.

South EBR wants new school district. EBR Parish said no you'd have to be a city to do that. South EBR called them out on it and moved forward with a new city. Then the crazies got in on it and made the ordeal look bad on both parties.
"St. George" is basically all the unincorporated areas of EBR parish, which includes a great deal like the mall, etc. Look at the map.
It's gotten very petty on both sides, like Councilmen calling the Pro St. George movement "terrorists" and introducing legislation that only residents of the City can work for the City/Parish. St. George side has been less than forthcoming also.
Sad thing is it's moved to race as the argument and not schools.

Seriously not trolling. Just ignorant on the issue.

Yeah it is sad, but everyone knows it is the easiest and most divisive argument.

sad part is we will probably still be talking about this in 20 years, along with the loop

The easiest thing to do is to keep trolling along.
