Doesn’t matter. Y’all tried to make the argument that I was making it up, and now I’ve proven that not only was it #1 long before Austin was even a hot spot on the map, but also multiple other times since then. My work here is done.

That says a lot about you

But don’t let me slow you down from whining about water color or the sun being too bright

I never made that argument.

Actually the sun is just fine. Just think that if a place is called The Blue Hole that maybe it should be blue?

Sao did, and you supported his cause, but it’s ok, you can crawfish now.

this place sucks

The low crime rate, strong housing market and exploding economy say otherwise.

mediocre burgers and ice cream

Less people at hooters

The rest of the things I can’t argue with except the Baton Rouge part, but you probably don’t live there and I won’t unjustly bash them.

I offered plenty of stuff on the travel board for you to do. You can frick off

I’m not talking about living here; I’m talking about visiting. No visitors care about economy or housing markets. It just sucks here, imo, and apparently many others agree. It’s ok for someone to have a different opinion from you. Not everybody has to love Hopdoddy and Amy’s Ice Cream

Yep, this is the typical attitude I’ve encountered here: everyone who lives here is “enlightened” and anyone who doesn’t “get it” is just wrong

It’s a good sized and diverse city with a lot going for it. If you can’t carve out a fun weekend visiting - I’m sorry but the problem is likely you. Excellent food, and music. Some cool activities. And again- I’ll say a wide range of options.

If you are looking for the VIP at the club with a DJ and big pool parties - maybe not your scene.... but go grab some great bbq and stfu honestly

I asked you to clarify your poor response to his request because I'm genuinely interested in the subject. People were fleeing Pittsburgh for 50 years. It's less than half the population than it was in 1950 and in the decade in question (80's) it lost almost 15% of its population following the collapse of the steel industry. I was interested in a link because I'm curious of the parameters they used.

I'm not interested enough in your bitchfest to "support" anyone's "cause" and I've never been to Austin so don't flatter yourself dickhead.

My dad was plant manager at US Steel in Pittsburgh and we moved to BR in 89 when he accepted a similar position for a plant down here. Not sure what the exact reasons for it were.

Just music, culture, high employment rate, highly educated population, good schools for children, decent traffic (relatively speaking), relatively low housing compared to high end Houston and Dallas, and good restaurants. Pretty much everything any young professional or young family is looking for. Other than that, it’s horrible.

Would be interesting to know, solely because its rare to see highly rated cities post six straight decades of population loss, four of them by double digits.

Because Austin is a liberal, progressive city full of highly educate people and most posters on this board are Trumpeteers who hate anything that doesn't fit their myopic world view.

Austin is 35% Republican and they are the ones with all the money, have the nice rich surburbs, and the big profitable businesses downtown. The homeless guy at the street light, weirdos, hispisters, and poor millennials working those jobs at restaurants, bars, Walmart etc. are the liberals of Austin.

To each his own. Austin isn’t for everybody, but I’d take a bunch of weirdos in a clean and safe city over dirty streets, out of control crime, and rampant culcha any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. I love Austin. I also happen to love Baton Rouge, for different reasons.

My sister is a pot smoking hippy and she lives in a 1+ million dollar house right on the Colorado River near downtown. Her and my BIL are both pretty liberal but very wealthy. Both of my siblings are very wealthy. I don't know wtf happened to me

Dude I’ve been going to South Beach bi-annually since the first time I went (NYE when it was turning 2000) and I’ve never had a bad time. It’s all just a matter of opinion.

Buddy of mine manages Lifetime Fitness so I’m chilling here now - this place is legit
