My wife does the same, it is one of the most stressful nights we have. Everyone running around making the house look great.

I’ve had this happen too and after pressing for a reason she said it was because she didn’t want the maid to think we were slobs
this was my wifes reasoning too.

i cant, its dumb, but i know for 100% fact my wife would do the same exact thing.

Do you really want her cleaning your liquid shite spots on the toilet from that diarrhea?

my wife gets up early and makes everyone else get up so she can strip the beds and get the sheets and towels/wash clothes in the washer and dryer so the housekeepers can make the beds and fold the towels..she will also load and wash the dishes so they can empty the dishwasher......

Blows my mind people don't get this. Do you want the maid cleaning up your mess from breakfast, or do you want her cleaning baseboards, scrubbing toilets, cleaning windows/blinds, mopping floors, etc.
I definitely don't get it. Tell the maid what you want cleaned, then you don't have to clean your house before the maid arrives.

What do you want to pay the maid to do? Deep clean the house or load your dishwasher? It all pays the same.

Precleaning just means cleaning up clutter.
I make fun of my wife for it because it is amusing...but it also makes sense.
Your maid doesn't know where to put random mail on your counter, or clothes that are laying about, etc etc.
So we just clear up clutter and put it away, and the maid can actually clean floors and toilets and counter tops and what not. Hell our maids will clean the inside of our oven and fridge about once a month.

My wife won't hire a maid because she says she would have to clean before the maid comes over. I said okay.

quote:Yea that makes sense, like if you're picking up kids' toys off the floor so the maid can vacuum, that makes sense. I also don't consider that cleaning though.

But that's shite that can be done in 5 minutes. The OP and other replies makes it sound like their wives are spending a couple of hours actually cleaning.

I do because if I don't she'll work herself to death

They are over-exaggerating most likely because that's what I make fun of my wife for, but its not what we actually do.
We clean up clutter, make sure we don't have stuff on the countertops and floors, put things away that need to be put away, that sort of thing.
Any time I don't, I'm always missing something I left out and then find my belt inside the pressure cooker 7 months later.

Dunno. My live in maid worries about preparing for the maid service to visit.

Sure, but we've been using the same maid for years now. We know her habits. She's going to clean EVERYTHING. And if the house is relatively already straightened up and tidy, the detail things are done much more thoroughly.
I thought it was dumb at first, but then I started to notice the difference in results when we do clean up a little the night before she comes.

embarrassment. women don't want other women seeing how messy their houses are.
