Not a scam.

My State Farm people called to tell me about it a few weeks ago.

I asked for a better explanation than the one they offered and he got pissed off.

I think this just means that the State Farm people are trying to scam you. Pretty much the only reason he’d get pissed at a request for clarification.

I do too, and just like the last one, I’m having to fight them tooth and nail. I should have left them years ago, so that’s on me. State Farm sucks

Your agent is likely an idiot. Sending out a letter like that with handwritten elements, no header or signature, and obvious issues like “about this endorsement about this endorsement”. I’d drop that guy before he screws up your insurance

If you think insurance companies should replace entire roofs, even if undamaged, you should never bitch about the cost of insurance.

Hold up.

Insurance is the one providing the coverage.

If the standard is going to be "we only replace what's damaged, looks be damned", then why the hell are we paying comprehensive premiums?

Even the lowest of the middle class come out ahead paying out of pocket with a seriously reduced premium if thats going to be the standard.

But this is a case of Insurance having their cake (covering partial repairs) and eating it too (getting comprehensive premiums).

It looks to me like it says they will not patch your roof (which I have seen them do on occasion.

Let’s say a big limb falls and goes through your roof, decking, and ceiling. This says they will not make the necessary repairs and get one square of shingles to patch the roof.

Are you dull? The purpose of insurance is to indemnify. Why do you think paying premiums entitles you to have undamaged parts of your home repaired?

This is why you smoothbrains bitch about insurance. You have zero concept of the intent or the contract

Someone can have 40% damage to a roof. Have 19k in roof damage of a 20k deductible. Not meet your deductible and this endorsement won’t pay for jack shite cause they were $1000 under their deductible obligation.kind of shitty

What? Are you stupid?

Why would any claim under the deductible be obligated to pay anything? People would get any type of small damage to their roof and immediately file a claim with this endorsement. Based on your logic, if any portion of the roof is damaged, regardless of how little or how much you would automatically be entitled to a new roof. You clearly have very little knowledge how insurance works.

There are a couple SF agents on the board and DCTiger knows his stuff. This agent should be embarrassed by the letter he sent out for how unprofessional it is and looks. Chat GPT could have put something better together.

Just pay the premium on the damaged part of the roof.

Then insurance wouldn’t exist. It also wouldn’t exist gifting everyone brand new roofs.

Don’t even worry about any of that. Your roof can blow away into your neighbor’s yard and State Farm still will say yeah you can just pick that up and repair it and they’ll make sure the damage is under your deductible. They fricking suck.

What should be standard is not having insurance companies ask someone to pay thousands of dollars in yearly premiums and on top of that require 5 or 10% named storm deductible?

Those excessive premiums need to have some sort of accountability within the company and not just go to high priced athletes, millions in advertising, the CEO’s Jaguar, and high priced commissions. That may sound like class envy, but if a company had your best interests at heart, they could reduce some of that spending.

Regulators should set a base rate for coverage and anything above it should be treated as hedge against the next major windstorm claim.

You are wrong. This endorsement allows for replacement of entire roof as long as roof has damage and entire claim exceeds deductible.
