There is a guy whose videos i occasionally watch that was doing something like this flipping watches — couple thousand to $100k.
Look forward to following / seeing how this goes and good luck.

Me and Pops took $5 and ran it into like $8K over the course of a year or so. It was from online and store sales, but we tracked that $5 to see how far we could run it.
I found a buffalo nickel in my pocket and ran it into $10,000. Being a salesman goes a long way if you want to make money.

Sounds much better than my idea to not use work income for vacation and instead only do uber eats a few nights and on weekends.
Actually made enough but the job sucked.
One extra customer a day in repair equated full 6-7 hours running uber.

lol. You’ll need to at least double your budget, so spend $2. I took my fam of 4 back in 2019 for 10 days. I spent north of $20k, and that’s flying economy plus and staying in moderately priced hotels.

How long would it take me to turn that one dollar into enough money to pay for family of four to go to Japan?
So you are getting into the drug trade?

It’s a cool idea but do you really think you can go to Japan with a family of four for $6-8k? You going for a long weekend and staying in hostels?

You may be able to go to Japanese restaurant in BR

Family of four?
You’ll need 20K.
It’ll take you ten years off that one dollar.

I was hoping this thread was originally posted about 2 years ago and this was an update. This thread sucks.

Ok, my first purchase. I actually bought two $1 items.
I’ll put both of them on eBay and keep the money from the be that sells the highest.
No great buys. I’m thinking I may sell one of these for $15-$20
An old metal (it weighs a ton) soap box derby trophy topper. It’s made of pot metal or something, not plastic or aluminum.
An old NYC yo-yo made by Kayson’s.

What about all the gas you are spending to drive to estate sales and the value of your time doing your taxes, researching items, monitoring sales, posting auctions, scrounging through people's stuff.
You'd probably make more just getting a PT job at a convenient store. Of course, you'd miss out on some fun.
I do enjoy your threads though.

The sale was 20 miles round trip. Less than a gallon of gas

I'm sure he's buying other things as he normally would, I mean he's already there, might as well do what he stated in the OP.

You need to create a ebook or video course on how to do this.

Right now I am.
I did buy a couple other items that was more that $1. Eventually I will be shopping with trip money only, when it gets to $100 or so.

There was a guy who started with a paper clip and traded for a house. One or two steps were highly uneven trades with businesses doing it for publicity. Could try to work that angle in somehow.

When you go to Japan, hit up the secondhand kimono shops instead of the tourist shops.
You can get real silk kimono or haori for a bargain.

Saw a guy start with a common baseball card and work up to a mantle rookie. Since it’s no longer a novel idea, good luck making the emotional connection with people where they’re motivated to make uneven trades just because they want to see your idea succeed.
