This topic seems to pop up several times a year. Dumb shits come in and say it's not legal, when in fact it is. And deserved too. A criminal's life means nothing, especially when they threaten your life.

Texas - Yes. If he's armed he's still considered a threat as far as a bullet can travel. So he can be across the parking lot and still considered to be life threatening as he can turn back around and shoot you. So it's legal, but you'll probably have a slew of lawsuits to defend.

This part is wrong. He does not have to be armed in texas.

A lot of folks who posted snarky comments in this thread would have an uphill battle with a DA even if they were ever involved in a justified self-defense shooting. They will read EVERYthing you have put out on the internet.

Can you Connect the dots for me on that?
How would Internet postings have any relevance to the scenario? It's not like there's any element of premeditation involved.

There was a case in Texas where a perp stole a tip jar from a food truck and was shot and killed as he fled. Shooter was let off without being convicted.

Speaking of dumbshits, your statement that it's legal is largely dependent on the state.

Wasn't there a story on here in Lafayette where the homeowner shot out the back window of the fleeing burglars. I thought he was charged and convicted but I can't remember

If the perp is running away while firing at you then I would blast away. Worth googling to review opinions across LEA jurisdictions.....
