Basically the system won't get below 76 and runs most of the day... humidity is high.. had a tech come out and he thinks the compressor is on it's way out due to the fact that the low side pressure was 100 and high was 160... and current amps of 11-12 ...I think I wrote all that down right..

.... anyway, I've never had a unit go out on me so I'd appreciate some advice on things to ask and if any of you know someone that can give me 2nd opinion... Unit was manufactured in 97... Know anywhere that will install a used compressor or some option to make this more affordable ?

just pick a couple of the Bernhard name companies. It's always good to get them bidding against each other. They're very competitive and spiteful.

What type of refrigerant? 22 or 410a

If it is 22 that definitely sounds like the valves in the compressor are shot.

I've used Buddy's AC getting the name from here.
Use them. They don't try to get you on useless upsales. Just correct the problem.

Jason Hermesch just came out yesterday evening and charged my ac with 3lb of freon. He charged $75 for the service call and $25/lb for the freon. His # is 2253173008, his business is called 3 Eagles Air, Inc. Money well spent imo, my ac was running all the time and freezing over during the hottest part of the day.

I don't need to be in the HVAC game or in BR to do it.

Lamb's Appliance Repair - the best in BR hands down,

Why the best? He goes to the annual extended trainings each year to stay current. (he was the only BR tech at the last one)

--and he's cheap.

Different organizations, distributors, manufacturers etc offer training classes. There are tons of them out there to "stay current"

They don't do residential and you don't know what you are talking about.

yeah if you just get a fill and no repair, that's not a fix, that's a rig. If you are okay with a rig then that's fine, BUT a tech is not following EPA guidelines if they add freon to a known leaking unit.

Hats off to you A/C guys, I don't know how you do it. I get the money per job is better, but the inside appliances are more challenging and inside... no sweating
