The thing that is a real killer is these damn health insurance premiums. They’re killer for families with young kids. The young and healthy getting sucked dry by the old and sick will be the downfall of everything.

Someone else had this same idea and did something about it. Care to guess who?

I appreciate this sentiment but the concerns are real. The goods economy is basically in a death spiral and home building is rough. Our money is broken and families are in general decline. If you don’t own significant assets you’re getting further behind every day.

“If you don’t support families with young kids spending a quarter of their income on health insurance premiums you’re literally hitler.” Found the boomer!

Dumb advice. You save and put it into the the S&P500. The growth outpaces inflation. That and real estate (home in a great location) will protect you from inflation and grow faster than it.

Also, the most insidious thing about inflation is that it encourages borrowing and discourages saving. No sense in saving money if it will be worthless down the road.

Hey you got it! Hitler. Killed off the old, sick, and retards for the benefit of a better Germany.

I voted Trump.
Medical Sales Rep.
Make good money.
Nothing to complain about.
The shite is ridiculous from an economic standpoint. The cards are rigged.

That’s why I said in a good location.

Not at all. Median age of first time homebuyers for the vast majority of recent history was ~31. I guarantee your parents were late for their generation.
Only in the last few years has it spiked to late 30s.

Growing up—not just my parents, but almost every family we knew—lived much more frugally than people do now. That was normal/average.
This is the crux of the matter. People back then didn't have to subscribe to Spotify for music, or all the multiple streaming services for movies and sports, and regular television, or buy Starbucks every morning, or eat at Chick-fil-A twice a day.
That stupid shite adds up more than you realize. If you put your money into making your own coffee, cooked your own food, and made sandwiches to bring to work, and invested the savings into interest bearing investments, it would pay off way down the road.
Honestly, my son does the same shite, and it frustrates me thinking of all the money he wastes on a daily basis, but it's a personal decision, so I say nothing.

It's always been this way.
It's never been easy.
Anyone who think the WW2 Gen had it easy after war or the average worker had it good at 1900 or 1850 etc is crazy.
Today what we have is a lot of people who thought they should have it way better than they have it. Thus the negative feeling about how things are.
If your great gradpaw could see what you have he'd say stop bitching and get what you can and enjoy you life.

The average house in 1955 was under a 1000 sqft.
The critical lack of knowing history is a big par of the reason so many feel so screwed over today.

This is the answer. Focus on what you can control. No matter the situation, it is a competition for everyone. If you outwork them, then you will almost certainly be one of the top performers and have no issues.

And nearly 1,800 sqft in the 1980’s. Small houses weren’t good enough for the baby boomer generation I guess. They needed better than they had it growing up.
