If you’re an attorney, expert mechanic, and executive lording over hundreds of people in your hay day, why are you a childless dork cosplaying on the internet from Baton Rouge?

The worst position in America to be right now is a single fresh college graduate saddled with 100's of thousands in student debt in a
profession with limited earning potential.

Unfortunately now that college has been made for everyone, the value of having a degree isn't there.

Well, yes, but that’s not the standard. The standard is even now engineers and accountants are coming out of college with tens of thousands of debt in a cool job market where they’re nearly forced to move to major metros where rent is 40% of their gross pay.

Accountants maybe, but engineers absolutely not unless they're working for government or nonprofit. Those with decent grades from a decent school will always have jobs at an above-average salary pretty much anywhere in the world.

Which gives them exactly what I described above

It’s not about being able to survive. People with stem degrees can survive, but with today’s economic conditions it’s extremely hard to build wealth. Especially if you want to have children in your late 20s/early 30s.

Lots more skills than that. If you only knew. I can do anything you can chief within a short period of time except play an instrument. That’s a gift I don’t have.

I have a couple of friends that have made millions because they listened to me. They were the kind of people that weren’t offended by the truth and were willing to learn beyond their monthly paycheck to paycheck pedestrian views. If people don’t like my delivery, I don’t know what to tell you pal. Results matter.

I have an obligation to take care of my elderly parents. They created me, nurtured me, took care of me, and loved me. Now it’s I will repay it. The day will come when they have both passed and the obligation will be fulfilled. We will leave BR only then.

Why am I on this message board? Well there is a conflict. I am empathetic and like to help people. Sometimes I really wish I didn’t have as much empathy as I do.

I didn’t lord over people. I helped them. Oh I see, you’re gonna assume things.

You keep saying childless as an insult when I told you I can’t have children. Why do you think that’s still an insult?

I don't really understand what your point is exactly. Engineers can move anywhere in the world. They don't have to move to a high-cost metro area. They make better than average salaries. They're still capable of building wealth from a younger age if they manage their spending.

Regular engineering has never been a profession where everyone comes out making $200k a year. Over their career they can build wealth after stacking high earning years.

It’s not an insult, it skews your world view. But I understand, you’ve spent your life searching for purpose so you severely over inflate your worth to make yourself feel better.

You’re turn into Roger lite is fascinating though

Well capable, yes. But the “norm” has gotten worse for all people, especially young people. I don’t understand how this is debatable for anyone that’s honest.

That’s certainly a possibility. I will reflect on this.

Always self reflect and challenge your convictions.

Surely you can do the same, yes?

Maybe. If all the adults in your life hammered into your brain that college is the only path to a good life, youre gonna go to college

Furthermore...the same people that will say "too bad, your fault" are the same exact people whose savings and investments were bailed out by the government in 2008

or he started college in 2019 in computer science

All the opposition has here is micro solutions to macro problems. Not everyone can be an engineer or doctor. If there was a massive wave of people going into trades, they would become a lot less lucrative (and they’re already a lot less lucrative than people here think)
