This argument actually reminds me of abortion. People arguing for euthanasia often bring up the 1% cases.

Yea, no one ever dies from terminal cancer. it's all liberal misinformation. dont be a fricking moron. If someone is dying painfully, and yes, doctors know, they should be able to choose.

My dad is looking like he will be in remission soon from stage 3 lung cancer but he told me the other day "after all of this chemo and radiation, I can understand why some people give up". My dad is a pretty strong person and has done better than most when dealing with this according to the doctors, but it hit me hard because it made me realize that until you're fighting it you have no idea what it's like.

Agreed. I get frustrated at the religious arguments against it.

If they kill themselves before God can get around to performing a miracle it'd be a damn shame.

Only about 1% of people will ever have to worry about dying. We can't change laws just for such a tiny minority.

Pretty sure it's closer to 100%, but I digress.

I'm always amazed at the willingness of the OT to project their beliefs onto other people under the guise of morality. It's rather bizarre.

Can't think of anything more empowering than going out on your own terms. Let people achieve peace instead of insisting they suffer.

Look man, God has a lot on his plate. You can't expect him to be on time every time. It's not like he's a God or something.

Then you have the people who label those who take advantage of a law like this as cowards or weak. "Why aren't you fighting til the end?" they ask.

"Terminal" illness usually ends in recovery to some degree. If the patient were dying they would be called "deadly ill" or something less vague. The "terminal" patients are usually the ones putting their diagnosis on Facebook looking for attention or trying to start some bullshite kick starter.

No it doesn't, a terminal illness copied straight from the definition is a disease that cannot be cured or adequately treated and that is reasonably expected to result in the death of the patient within a short period of time.

That might be the twitter/Facebook definition. But we're talking about making laws here so the opinions of social media shouldn't matter.

That's the real medical definition, not twitter or facebook.

My fellow Catholics do realize that this is not a loophole to avoid eternal burning in the afterlife, correct?

From Webster's

quote:

terminal : a point of connection for closing an electric circuit.

You're full of shite. Keep your nonsense out of serious threads about government death panels.

There is a documentary about this on Netflix,

"How to Die In Oregon" and it's an amazing documentary. I agree with the law. Disagree that any family members should have to sign off on it. If I were ever that ill, I would want that option.

He's a useless troll. I'm surprised he still isn't on permanent timeout. His schtick is beyond pathetic and completely transparent.
