Glad they were caught, but shoplifting scheming while trying to conceal the theft isn’t really the current day issue causing stores to shut down. It’s closer to looting. About the only scheming is wearing a hoodie and face cover.

Eh… not really.
Knowing what to get and being able to get it in large enough quantities is always a thing in this sort of theft. That is how the mob used to handle cargo theft at JFK, as they would have a board up at Robert’s Lounge listing what the cargos people most wanted were, as those would get a premium.
A lot of this is detailed in Wiseguy, the book that Goodfellas is adapted from.
