How much is the California gas tax? That’s been ripping people off for decades.

y.
On no, I can at least understand basic economics, unlike yourself.
WHat determines the price you pay for fuel? According to Newsome, they raised their margins? How are they ripping you off?
Why does California have such a shitty poverty rate?
why are the middle class fleeing in droves?
Cal was injected with gubment cash for the defense industry in the 40s and 50's, and the tech industry at the end of last decade. They can't even handle their own middle class.

How, very specifically, are they screwing people over?
Be specific.

You don’t get it. Valero doesn’t drill for oil. They are not big oil. They buy it on the open market for the most part and then refine it.

I wonder what would happen if all the oil companies just stopped selling their product in California.... I feel like a change of heart would occur quickly.

Taxes and fees to the tune of ~$1.19/gallon.

They can do a lot more.
Why?
Their only goal is to sell as much as they can for as high as they can.
Which they are doing.

you need larger amounts of profit to reinvest back into the company to grow.
We should be able to easily tell if this is happening, or if they are just paying more in dividends / exec comp.

Right, Valero is only in downstream. But they are pretty big in downstream.

I love this idea, but they would immediately lose all access to capital.

I took this picture at a pump in Mendocino Cali back in June. This wasn't the norm, most prices were $6.50 - $7.99.
