When someone is in obvious psychosis why do they even mention what stupid conspiracy they believed in?
it was allegedly the killer’s confessed motive. Why would that be left out of the reporting? It actually points to his detached mental state rather than leaving the reader guessing.

It isn’t an attack on conservative politics.

I dont think there is anything in qanon lore that involves kids turning into monsters

The complaint says Coleman told authorities that he learned about "serpent DNA" through QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories, even though the lizard people conspiracy theory predates both by several decades. The believers in each conspiracy theory have melded together over the last several years because conspiracy theory influencers and algorithms on social media frequently lump the theories together.

Its embarrassing you post this as though it’s anything other than propaganda. You’re as gullible as the QAnaon folks.

Sounds fake.

Believe none of what you read and only half of what you see.

I posted it to show that the article pointed out the same thing as the poster. That Qanon isn’t about lizard people and that the lizard conspiracy predated it.

that quote literally says that Qanon is often lumped in with other conspiracy theories despite not being linked

what are you ranting about?

That doesn't mean it's his motive. If he knew that murdering his kids was wrong before then he would have never kept going along with Qanon after that or at the least it'd make him question it. The fact that he went along with it tells me he was nuts beforehand.

I can totally believe the qanon stuff is being played up by intelligence agencies for other motives. They never miss a chance.

The left also wants qanon to seem more widespread than it really is because it makes them look sane.

It's like the ugly girl looking to take a picture next to a really ugly girl. Yeah she's ugly, but at least she's not as ugly as the other girl and everyone focuses on the uglier girl.

Think of George Costanza and the pig man episode.

"Hey! At least he's no pigman!"

Yes it is

Leading with it - which most national accounts will - when the story is a crazy guy who mashed together a number of completely different, older conspiracy theories in his delusions...is an obvious effort to discredit Trump people.

It's typical in modern journalism. The Qanon angle, small as it may be, will get 1000x the discussion that the tragedy of the children's death will get, or that the horror faced by the mom will get, etc.

The same article with the headline saying “]California dad killed his kids over QAnon and 'serpent DNA' conspiracy theories”.

Of course not. It appears he is either detached from reality or pretending to be.

However, it would be strange to report on this case and leave that information out.

Why? Do all/most Trump people believe that nonsense? Is this guy even a Trump supporter?

Wouldn’t it only discredit those that believe in the referenced conspiracies?

yea, it must be fake. Nevermind that the political board here is filled with people who actually believe in insane doomsday theories that are nearly as crazy as that. I'm sure they're all crisis posters though.

yep. I'd rather risk my kids turning into monsters than living without them. plus, pretty sure that would only drive me suicide.

Why would it be strange to leave it out? If QAnon has nothing to do with his motive, then why include it?

Because that is what he allegedly claimed his motive was in his confession.

Report: Guy confesses to killing his kids.
Reader: Why?
Report: He appears to be crazy so we aren’t going to report on why he says he did it.

I don’t know if he did or didn’t. I assume the confession was recorded, so if the criminal complaint makes allegations that are proven false by the recorded confession, then his lawyer will undoubtedly bring that out.

Should the reporter ignore that allegation? If so, why?
