think the basic question is why does simply carrying cash imply required suspicion?
I agree with you on the CAF being atrocious, but let's be fair about their argument - simply carrying cash won't get it seized. They need probable cause to seize it.
However, when they need probable cause, they'll make damn sure they find it. It's a racket, plain and simple.

Should we post troopers at Interstate welcome centers to make sure this ain't happening more?

They need to give this baw his money back, along with a 3 piece w/red beans, for his trouble. He also needs to be allowed to punch them in the face.

I'm fundamentally states rights, small Government, indivual. Freedom first no matter what and that's why I support asset forfeiture. Not good reason in this age to carry that much cash on one's person.

BS but if you are going to carry over 10k you might want to have proof of where that cash came from.
Show me in the constitution where it says this? All I can find is this....
quote:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Seems pretty cut and dry to me that this man’s 4th Amendment rights were completely shat upon by these DEA thugs.

Show me in the constitution where it says you can't smoke drugs?

So you want the government to arbitrarily be able to decide how much money you can carry on you? And if they decide you have more than you need they can just take it?

Only an authoritarian would think you need a reason, much less a "good" one.

What the frick does drugs have to do with this man and his money? He didn’t even have drugs on him.

As long as the government stays small and don't overreach then, yes. I'm small Government.

Fortunately he is always close by, especially given almost all cash has residual traces of drugs on it

Or as long as people can give you a "good reason" for doing whatever they happen to be doing.

Why couldn't the man deposit the money before heading home?
Would you carry 29k in cash? Anywhere?

Nothing says freedom like restricting how much cash you can have.

How does this work exactly? A bank receipt doesn't list the serial number of each note.

Your idea of probable cause and LE's idea of probably cause, when there are thousands of free money at stake, are worlds apart.
Tennessee is notorious for CAF on interstates. If I recall, their "probable cause" is simply the amount of cash you have. If it's over $x, they're taking it and there's not a fricking thing you can do about it.
Back the blue though, eh?

Doesn't fit the Perp's narrative.
