Oak Point isn’t cheap but it’s the shite. Honestly it’s pretty interchangeable with a Calandros

My step-father worked as a meat butcher at the mid-city Calandros back in the 90’s.

The second Calandro’s location, on Government Street, is not being sold and will remain open.

They’ve always had good butchers at the store and I’ve known many through the years. Going there tomorrow morning to get things for Christmas dinner.

They better continue with the hot lunches. The daily lunch specials are fantastic. Hopefully they retain the kitchen staff.

Cause everyone has a price

Rouses would sell its stores depending on the numbers on the check

Damn BR is getting fresh. In about a 2 mile radius BR now has:

Fresh Market Perkins Rowe
Robert Fresh Market
Oak Point Fresh Market

Sid for the win!

I go to the Calandros in Perkins a lot - bc it’s convenient. It’s good for meat, alcohol and some baked goods, but is really behind the times with selections in the middle of the store.

Part of me was hoping for a second Trader Joe’s location, or something more specialty.

You have Winn Dixie, Albertsons, 2 Walmarts and fresh market within a couple miles - that store should figure out a way to differentiate itself from the others to get more foot traffic.

I lm not sure I’d call those actual king cakes, but are pretty darn good. I picked up one last year and will grab another this season.

I've always thought Rouses would sell to HEB or something once they had 100 stores. I know they are getting close to that mark

Doubtful. Government wont do near enough volume to get the same allocations as they do with Perkins combined

The old Mathernes? I used to shop there all the time when I lived in the area. The cashiers were normally cute coeds

Do they still do the 5 dolla burger special or did covid kill that?

Yeah I got a king cake from Perkins calandros a few years ago it wasn't as good as from the mid city location's. Idk if oak point can do better but they'll be an overall better store.
