Genuine question. Why even have a compact pickup?

Nissan fixing to make bank when they bring back the mini trucks

If they're cheap and reliable, it makes a ton of sense.
Same price as a full size and it gets to be a tough market for a small truck.

The whole point of a truck is to haul shite. What you hauling in a compact?

I long for the days when I could get a truck (or car) with less electrical doo-dads imbedded in the bumpers, mirrors, dash boards and a simplified AC/heater.

quote:I own the current equivalent of a compact truck (Jeep gladiator). It does everything I need a truck to do and with a bed rack I can carry 16’ lumber and/or full size sheet goods. It’s nimble, easy to park, fun to drive, lighter and less likely to get stuck, and all around a more practical vehicle. “Full size” trucks today are far larger than they used to be and that’s due to fuel efficiency standards.
Why even have a compact pickup?
the only thing mine can’t do is tow a heavy load but if you have to do that frequently then obviously a compact truck is not for you. There is a reason late model compacts are selling used for ridiculous premiums. Go try and find a Toyota Tacoma in good condition with 4WD and your eyes will pop out their sockets at the price people are paying

I can answer this from a farming perspective.
I'd buy 2 Hilux's tomorrow to take the strain off our one F-350. I'd keep the F-350 for heavier duty jobs... Pulling 1000 gallon trailers, toting a welding machine and air compressor, etc.... But with 2 Hilux's, I could disperse people better and have 2 light duty service trucks that would be very versatile depending on the season. Haul 12-24 bags of corn and cotton seed during planting, rig one out to be an irrigation parts truck during the summer, store basic tool sets throughout the year, etc. instead of relying heavily on the one F-350 to service everything.

Taken from Google
The Jeep Gladiator is significantly larger than the S10 pickup, which is a compact truck from a previous era. The Gladiator is a mid-size truck with a length of about 218 inches, a wheelbase of 137.3 inches, and a 60.3-inch bed, whereas an S10 is much smaller at around 188 inches long with a 108-inch wheelbase.

Could easily see this as a viable option but for the primary and only truck, it doesn’t make sense

Contrary to popular belief, Braydyn's baseball equipment doesn't require a 3,000 lb. payload capacity.

there is currently not an American market compact, gladiator is the closest comp, which is what I said
Jeep for example at one time made a true compact, basically a 2 door wrangle with a bed. S10 at that wheelbase probably only had two doors, gladiator has 4 thus the longer vehicle
today, if you want a true compact, your only option is a UTV LOL

Or $1000 to replace the windshield because you have to get it recalibrated
Give me simple. Five speed, manual windows, manual locks, radio, AC.. I'm good.

I know. I was just showing a true compact size vs a gladiator.

Braydyn will also need more room than a two door

Payload capacity is a tax bracket used for highway classification and doesn’t prove actual performance of a truck.

If the size and cargo capacity fits your needs (for most people it does) what's the problem?
I know a few people who have gone their whole lives with compact trucks. They're plenty capable of doing tasks southern men THINK they need a 3/4 ton diesel for, like towing a compact tractor or hauling a few 2x4's.

Now I may get a hilux for my boys as first vehicle. That would be good.

i fricking wish. its one of the reasons food prices have risen so much since they passed it.
but going to be hard to win midwest states like Iowa if they do repeal.
