Genghis Khan deserves mention in the top 4. I honestly probably wouldn’t put Hannibal in the top 20. His victories at Cannae and Lake Traseimine were ingenious but as far as actual accomplishments go, he really doesn’t offer much

Kinda depends on your definition, here. As a conqueror? Absolutely. As a king/emperor/ruler, he’s nowhere near the top 4. I think you’d have to go something like Cyrus the Great or Darius to fill that spot.
But, I think you have to take into account the utter devastation that the Khans brought from a civilization standpoint. He did more to destroy advancing society more than....probably....any conqueror ever. The Middle East is still reeling from the Khans.

He actually wrote quite a few fictional stories and entered in a bunch of essay competitions where he was graded usually as “mediocre”

For the second time in this thread I’ll remind someone that Caesar’s competition wasn’t sub par.
He defeated another general that is probably a top 10 or 15 general all time. He was also outnumbered. It wasn’t until very late in his life that Caesar surpassed the accomplishments of Pompey.
That’s something Napoleon cannot say.
