You sjw pussies kill me. One hand you bitch about killings and rape and theft, then the other you bitch about prisoners working while "inside". Why not work them, as many prisoners in LA there shouldn't be a stitch of trash on the highways, etc.

Hasn't Caddo Parish been in the news recently for some sketchy policies/actions? I feel like I heard that. But I could be off base.

First of all, it's no slave labor or free labor. Trustees get paid.
Secondly, this is being taken out of context. He was responding to a justice reformation act or bill or whatever that is letting 1400 prisoners loose. He is mainly concerned about the violent offenders being turned loose that are not allowed in public at this time. Moreover, there is also the fact that the non violent offenders, the ones used as trustees are also being turned loose affecting work release programs. Public parks grass still needs cutting.

Whatever they are called, I used both terms in this one sentence. I'm talking about the guys that get dropped off in the mornings and picked up in the evenings to go back to jail. They work on public stuff, and for private businesses like warehouses and such. The guys trying to integrate back into society. They get paid.

He isn't talking about those. He is talking about the ones that are in prison and work in the prison. They save money because they don't have to pay prisoners to do work around the prison.

It costs about 31,200 dollars a year to keep a person in prison. I think they could get the grass cut for cheaper than that.

No violent or sex offenders are being released, he is a sheriff, he should know that.

I can all but guarantee you that a department that acts as this sherriff speaks has no issue hitting up more black kids than white. Half the people in this guy's jail are probably there for low level drug offenses as it is.

Yeah. Prator has been putting out a full on fear mongering campaign about this. It has been a classic example of how our prison system is a money making machine.

Go back and watch the video again. He specifically says work release.
However, as to free labor with cooks or washing cars or whatever on the actual prison grounds. None of them are forced to do it, so it's not slave labor. It helps as credit towards good behavior, which is technically getting something for the work. Not to mention, they get food and AC. Keeping a prisoner isn't free.

The sheriff office can keep up to 60% of the wages. Its a money making racket for sheriff's.

Trustees work in the jail, pick up trash on the road, wash cars, change oil, clean government buildings, etc. They don't get paid.
Work release inmates work for private companies and do get paid but they are charged room and board/transportation and other fees which are taken out of their check before they get anything.
