One of the top all-season tires for 2006 Toyota 4Runner, $500 after $100 rebate and sale on discounttiredirect or tirerack, take your pick of which you want.
Mounting: $60 at Wal-mart
Total: $560
done it multiple times for multiple cars. $500-600 for brand new tires > $375 for retreads.
My uncle owns a couple of those discounted retread tire shops, he even tells his customers that the tires should be mainly used for 1-2 tires that need replacement due to holes that can't be patched, sidewall bubbles, etc... and you don't want to buy a full set. Rotate the good tires to the front, retreads on back. gives you some time

Really? I mentioned before I bought tires on Amazon as well. They're delivered to my door, and I take them to Walmart for installation and balance.
It's cheaper, and not any more work and maybe less (time) if I really wanted to analyze it.

I had a flat and decided I wanted new tires today.
I was in and out in 20 minutes.
I spent hundreds less.

I'm not sure what point you're making, but I actually worked as an accountant for a company that had 65 tractors and about 100 trailers. I did the repairs and maintenance accounting on said vehicles and I'm about 99% certain we did not use re treaded tires.

you sound happy you finally found someone with a contrary opinion who is in 'the business' (or at least he says his uncle is)
but yet you ignore all the posts from those who say there is virtually no difference between new or recaps these days.
this ain't 1961. those smart guys have figured out how to make recaps work or the people who put the most stress on tires...tractor trailers..wouldn't unilaterally use them.

Actually paid 630 OTD the other day for mastercraft courser mxt in a 265/75r16. That was local.
