I'm solely basing this off of driving 100+ miles of interstate every work day for 7 years. Just basing it on what I saw.

ok the fact virtually all tractor trailer companies use retreads isn't why you see more treads on the interstate?

would you feel better if the debris on the road was from new tires instead?

or are you smarter than the entirety of the tractor trailer industry because you know new tires would would not fail with the same frequency?

if only their accountants were smart enough to realize new tires are less expensive in the long run, last longer and are safer.

I really like how you pick and choose who you respond to now. Almost like you're avoiding certain questions you know you don't have a good response for.

I've seen more retreads come apart than tires that were straight blowouts.

Jesus fricking Christ man slow down, I'm telling you what I saw. Not that I'm smarter than anyone in the trucking industry. frick.

y u so mean. you know i'm lazy.

i will concede the following points:

a. i put new tires on the sequoia because all 6 of us ride in that on long trips
b. i put retreads on my son's CUCV "play purty" because he doesn't get out on the highway
c. i'm putting retreads on my 4runner because i have 321k miles on it and its probably past the days when i am comfortable driving it from nashville to montana

so there.

however, pending the outcome of both my son's experiment & my 4runner experience, i might opt for retreads on the sequoia when the time comes.

Do you want him to answer why he made the thread or why he would risk it? I'm not sure either is really germane to this thread, but you seem like you really want an answer to one of those questions.

Exactly. There's plenty of areas in your life where it makes sense to save money by going with a cheaper option. But anything to do with your family's safety is not one of them.

Says the dumbass that's never used retreads but he's buying retreads for all of his vehicles because he's either a tightwad or just poor.

Your ignorance won't be so be so blissful when those things come apart.

It's illegal to run them on the steering axle of a big truck so I'd think about it a little bit. Heat and improper inflation are generally what kills recaps. I've never run them on anything but my Pete, so I really can't speak to how they are on a passenger car or light truck.
