I try to share that with the OT but I'm stepping on sacred cows and they don't want to hear stuff that challenges their long held beliefs

400 Billion (with a B!) gallons of oil! ....saved (how does it save oil? just from the reduced production of new tires?) ... annually! .... in North America (not even worldwide) !

Every state has stringent weigh stations.. That allowing the wholesale use of unsafe tires would be OK.
You are surely capable of figuring out that a blowout on a vehicle with 18 tires is not remotely comparable to a blowout on a vehicle with 4 tires, aren't you?

I did when I was poor, and in college. They saved me a good bit of money. I never did trust them to go on a long trip though. lol

Retreaded tires in all applications, from passenger cars to heavy construction equipment, have consistently demonstrated the same reliability in operation as new tires. Many trucking fleets plan their new tire purchases with the intention of having their worn casings retreaded two or more times as a routine part of their tire budgets. Today, in North America, there are as many retreaded tires in operation as there are original tread life tires.
But...but the OT is smarter than those biased studies

Does that quote have anything to do with what I asked you?

Should I have used the word "educated" responses only in my op?

Judging from the responses on here the myth they are more dangerous is alive and well.
Eta bet these guys also believe in changing oil religiously every 3k miles and diamonds are worth 2 months of their salary.

Should you deflect some more and not answer the question?

You left out hazardous to life and limb.

so retreads are the reason rigs carrying tons and tons of freight experience blowouts?
More often than not they are not just blowouts. They're just retreads stripping off when you see the long strips.
Yes blowouts still occur, and that's what you see when there are a bunch of shredded pieces.
FYI, I purchased my last set of tires on my car from Amazon... they're great!

Great, you got us man. Sounds like you already had your mind made up before you started this thread. Why ask for thoughts if you are going to act like a twat?

I don't think you know what a sacred cow is. I don't think I've ever seen the OT actively attack the retread tire industry to protect big tire.
