I'm old school but in my 30's. I wear suits often and will always have button down collars. I don't like collar stays

So... Button Downs are old school?

Here:
Real Men Real Style Article.
There's a reason sport shirts more often than not have button down collars.

Wikipedia Article

Turns out button down collars were invented in 1896 by Brooks Brothers. Point and straight collars are far older. And button downs are generally considered more casual.

Man, multiple links about a shirt having a button or not? I'm impressed. Can't get a link for half the shite people post around here and we get two about dress shirts

I hate when I see people wearing a tie and a button down.
it's a good " this is the first time I've worn a suit" indicator

Button down collars are definitely an old school American look. You see older politicians rocking them all the time, see Bernie Sanders.

That being said, the tie knot with that collar looks terrible. Just because Buffett is a billionaire doesn't mean he knows how to dress.

Yeah, I mean he's sort of the quintessential middle American schlub.

You can get shirts made now with the button on the inside of the collar instead of outside so it's invisible to outside observers. That's how pretty much all my sport shirts are now.

Collars with buttons should never be worn with ties and you will be judged if you choose to ignore that rule.

Do you launder your own shirts or not? If you're getting them all laundered collar stays are awesome, if you're doing it yourself eventually you're going to forget to replace them after washing before you pack for a trip.

Any man who judges another man based on the collar preference of his shirt is a man whose opinions I'm sure I can ignore.
