Depends on the shirt. I have casual button downs I wear untucked with the sleeves half rolled up and I have business shirts I only wear tucked. Depends on what I’m doing.
This is the correct answer for men who aren’t dressed by their wives.

I always tuck but leave zipper open for proper airflow. It is also fashionable to tuck inside your underwear and have them exposed above your belt line

You're a slob that tries to bang your employees. You maybe front tuck when you're going to a wedding, pansy.

Most men I see going untucked are trying to hide a beer gut and/or they are bama fans.

Going to work? Wedding? Tuck.
Hanging out after work? Not tucked.
Weekends? Definitely untucked.

Because untucked tails was cool in 1997
An age-softened Oxford cloth button-down with a tucking tail worn untucked with half-rolled sleeves is about as classic casual Camelot as you will ever see. It has three big caveats, the rest of the outfit has to be spot on, you have to be trim, and while I am reluctant to put a specific sale-by date on it every man has an age that it no longer looks appropriate. The Oxford should never be pinpoint but rather full-sized, it should never be broadcloth or twill, and obviously never pressed when worn untucked.

If I am wearing my CHP in a inside waistband holster without a jacket, untucked. Ankle holster? Tucked.

And no sneakers with slacks either
Nothing makes my fashion sense tingle more than this. I can’t tolerate seeing all these ESPN guys wearing sneakers with suits. They think it makes them look young and cool when in reality they look like fricking idiots.

My Dad was passionate on always tucking the shirt in, which I did without question while growing up. Well I turned 13 and started dressing like the rest of the kids to fit in and it pissed him off. We go to the mall one day, and he sees my untucked shirt and embarrasses me in front of everybody while forcibly tucking in my shirt.
I was mad and defiant. As we walked to the store, my dad started pointing out the class of people who had untucked shirts vs the class of people who had tucked in shirts.
"Look at that a-hole with the untucked shirt, he looks like crap and so does his family. You can tell they are losers. He does not care about anything."
"Look at that guy with the tucked in shirt. He has a beautiful wife with him and you can tell he is a success. Look at the watch and shoes he is wearing. He takes pride in himself and exudes confidence. He is a winner."
And he said much more about many more people. I must admit that he did point out things I never had noticed before.
Today I tuck my shirt in the majority of the time. There are some shirts I have that are made to be untucked. I would say those are the only acceptable shirts to do that with.
Oh the memeories with my dad.
