Are you assuming that all cash-only businesses are engaged in tax evasion?
I'm not sure if the OP is doing this, but I'll gladly assume that all cash-only businesses are engaged in tax evasion.

What rules are they being allowed to break?

Or just mainly the Asian-owned ones?
Who new the hardasses of the OT would be so SJW with this

Cash only or largely cash business don't report their incomes accurately. I'm not sure how this is even debatable.
If all businesses with cash income incorrectly report their cash income, then the only solution would be to require all businesses to be completely cashless. If you assume cash income is always underreported just because it's supposedly easy to underreport it, any business that isn't completely cashless is breaking the law. Why single out Asian-owned ones or ones that are mostly or exclusively cash?

How do you like my business?

massage parlors take credit cards....or so i'm told

Fair enough, but underreporting cash income is muchhhhhhhh more difficult to prove than inflated expenses.
Agreed, they cheat smarter.
But the biggest corporations are fleecing the government muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh more than all of the "asian" run businesses combined, multiplied by a million.

That was just an example, based on the most common situation I find myself in when needing cash. Only at the tailor or nail place, never really anywhere else. If you know of another stereotyped group that is regularly getting away with these business mgmt practices, by all means, discuss.

agree, but in a lot of cases condoned, enabled by the gubment, and don't even start on how John Q. Taxpayer gets a rim job on both ends of this spectrum

quote:Cant argue with that. Especially since you'd think it hurts your business since people don't carry much cash anymore.
but when the only option is to pay with cash? Um, that's a red flag.

Exactly. I agree with you 100%.
To single out:
a. small
b. asian
as businesses that are evading taxes seems laughable to me. They probably make up less than 1% of this "evasion". The vast majority of tax evasion comes from the mom and pop run companies, along with the giant corporations that can hire lawyers and CPA's to guide them.
And don't get me wrong, more power to them. Just don't blame a hard working race for the tax evasion system in the U.S.

Are you advocating to make cash illegal?

There is this shitty little breakfast place in PCB that I went to one time. The sign read "Val's cash only", food was god awful.
Are we supposed to be waiting for the punchline?

lord have mercy, clever/smart business owners use every loophole they can to "avoid" paying taxes.
ask your boy trump (not knocking him for doing this btw)

I'd be more concerned about the sex trafficking these massage parlors bring in than tax evasion

Well I know the OP has never eaten at Moscas but it's probably because of lack of parking-not the cash only policy.

My only point is that the thread title would be much more accurate as "All businesses & tax evasion". They all use different methods, but to believe that most businesses are paying 100% of what they owe in taxes is, well.....naive.

I wasn't saying they were the main culprits or anything, just pointing out that they get away with it.
