good luck with that limited access

I hadn't considered this. Now that I think about it there are certain places (mostly gas stations) that I will avoid simply because they're a pain in the arse to get in and out of. I avoid things on Essen, College, and Siegen in general though just because they are a huge clusterfrick at any given time.

I mentioned it in the other thread but that location on Perkins by Essen. Used to be Calanders, Lasseinges, and is about to reopen as some shitty looking Japanese place called "sake sushi."

What we really need in that 100 yard diameter circle at the intersection of Essen and Perkins is another Japanese Sushi restaurant to add to the THREE EXISTING ONES.

The guy that owned sliders was a regular at the Acadian TJ Ribs and owned a bunch of burger kings and was in retirement. Then he decided to open up a restraunrant with no real experience, and a terrible concept (or lack of one), and awful customer service (including himself). He lost his arse on that entire deal and the people at TJ Ribs bought out all his shite for a fraction of what he put in the business.

Sounds like you have inside information. I do know that tj ribs was able to talk the landlord down on the rent at the new pville location. Hopefully that will help.

However if they continue to serve $1 margaritas it'll get rough in there on nights and weekends, just like it does at Siegen now.

In that building, yes.

At that physical location? No.

Iirc, there used to be a Podnuh's, Frost Top Rootbeer, and a Long John Silvers there.

Any nice business in North BR

The nicest thing up there is Popeye's. It isn't going anywhere.

That whole area is kind of an afterthought to me

Rum House and Olive kill it. The right place in the old Calendar's would too. We just have a plethora of people who "want to own a restaurant/bar" in BR who don't actually have they money and marketing skills to make it work.

Bennington Ave off College--several places in there.

Omi's location sucked for many years. They seem to be doing ok, lasting longer than most of the previous tenants in the last 15 years.

Something in the abandoned McAllister's would work too.

I think that particular restaurant was fine but went down with the ship when the franchisee for the state went belly up.

I talked to a lot of people involved in that whole situation, and yeah those $1 margs can be a problem, especially when that section 8 housing down the road opens up.

The other is the building on HW.16 (Range Avenue) in Denham right as you pass over the railroad tracks heading south,on the left. Nice building but nothing ever stays open for very long there.

People still associate with it as being a post office. Nobody likes the postal service.

Businesses do not look at market share, local demo, and competition in the area before opening up. Its unreal.

I agree. The last thing BR needs is another generic place with some burgers, salads, red beans, chicken tenders. Right now, BR is finally getting some of the types of places that have been in bigger cities for a couple years (Kalurah Street, Southfin, City Pork). This is what we need more of. Creative places with actual money put into the atmosphere and actual talent put into the food.

It's like every middle class dude whose friends told him he's a good cook decides to open a restaurant here. Pretentious as it sounds, marketing and understanding of food trends matter.

I think they're putting some Bama restaurant called Shrimp Basket in the one on Perkins. I think the one on Siegen has been scooped up by a chain too.

On a related note, very curious to see how Superior Grill does in the Kenilworth shopping center. There is really no decent Mexican in that area of town, so it could work....

Superior does well on Government, but that shopping center on Highland where they are opening the new "upscale" version is kind of weird. I always thought it should have an outlet to Kenilworth.

That building on Jamestown/Bennington across from The Station always seems to change hands.

Phil's Oyster Bar was off College like that and it failed. They never should have left Government street.
