Sometimes for absolutely no reason.
There's 2 locations I've always known about. That little strip on the Oneal extension right past the car wash. No matter who opens up in there they always close within a year or 2. street view

The other is the building on HW.16 (Range Avenue) in Denham right as you pass over the railroad tracks heading south,on the left. Nice building but nothing ever stays open for very long there.

Street view

I will say this, you don't hardly ever see a Chinese restaurant close down.

That place is ripe to make a lot of money but owners of the businesses in there have been absolute morons.

Any sort of bar/restaurant on W. Chimes St. Except Highland Coffee or Insomnia Cookie, apparently.

It closed already? Dammit. I liked that place. I figured the Cinnabon place would have helped it survive. The Schlotzky/Cinnabon in Gonzales didn't last long either.

I mentioned it in the other thread but that location on Perkins by Essen. Used to be Calanders, Lasseinges, and is about to reopen as some shitty looking Japanese place called "sake sushi." It will be empty in a few months

Wasn't Schlotzkys the first thing in that building when it was built?

Where Shady's used to be on E. Boyd. It was changed to the levee, and then the Bandit I believe. Not a successful location.

The former Calendar's location on Perkins.

Lasseigne's recently closed down and a sushi restaurant is supposed to open in that space.

That's where Essen turns into Staring right? That whole area is kind of an afterthought to me. I keep coming across areas that apparently still have businesses, but always look like a ghost town.

Yeah, it also makes no sense to have another generic sushi place around that intersection. Ichibans and a cheap sushi buffet share the same parking lot a few hundred yards away. Sushiyama is also right down Perkins

The restaurant location where sliders was (for about 6 months) in Prairieville. I'm not convinced that even TJ Ribs can survive there. Guess we will see, saw them putting signs on the building yesterday.

Edited for correct restaurant.

Could be mistaken, but this was the one that was Santa Fe Cattle Company before that right? That place was awesome but both that one and the one at Coursey/Sherwood closed as well. I did see they are replacing the Coyote Blues with Saltgrass Steakhouse. I've never been but I heard it's good. I was surprised CB closed- it was always busy as hell for lunch.

Maybe we can start calling the intersection "Little Tokyo?" I'm down with it.

The old Post office has a black mark on it for sure. Now I will say this, the last few restaurants that took a swing at that place we pretty terrible.

Also its in a weird part of the Antique district. I think it being on the other side of the tracks didn't help with weekend walk-ins. Plus, they have to compete with Whistle stop , That other place i can never remember and The oldest greasy spoon James Grill.

Now if someone came in and did it right and had a PBeauxs style menu and good atmosphere and filled a niche I think something could stick..

Thanks. Didn't realize that. I think there was a Chinese restaurant and a bar there. That whole area is such a dump. When I drove down awhile back there was still trash sitting along the road from the flood.
