GREENVILLE, S.C. —The manager accused of making an inappropriate comment following the death of Greenville Officer Allen Jacobs told WYFF News 4 that she's been fired, but says the allegations against her are false.

WYFF News 4 started investigating the allegations after tons of Facebook messages and emails came into the newsroom.

A Greenville woman said she went to the Burger King on Laurens Road and started speaking about the loss of Officer Jacobs to the cashier.

The woman said a worker came over and said, "The cop got what he deserved, messing with these kids for no reason."

The customer posted about her experience on Facebook and, at last check, it had been shared more than 16,000 times.

"I was totally shocked. I was blown away. I could not believe what I had heard," the customer told WYFF News 4. She doesn't want her name revealed.

Just a bunch of dindus just doing nothing. I don't know the back story here but I could venture to guess the kids were doing something illegal, cop intervened, cop is dead? One community blames the cop, world feels otherwise but is too afraid to say anything for the most part.

I can't imagine going to BK so much that you become friends with the cashier.

Chief Ken Miller, at a news conference after the shooting, said Jacobs and the other officer were trying to interview Deontea Perry Mackey because he had tried to acquire a weapon. Miller said Mackey is a "confirmed and self-admitted gang member."

Miller said that when Mackey saw the officers, he ran toward a feeder trail that leads to the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

The officers pursued Mackey toward Rebecca Street. Mackey fired at the officers in a home's backyard, hitting Jacobs multiple times, Miller said.

It is not believed that the officers returned fire. Miller said Jacobs' weapon was holstered and the holster was snapped shut when he was shot.

Evans said officers performed CPR on Jacobs until he was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he died just before 1 p.m.

Mackey continued to run toward the Swamp Rabbit Trail, where Greenville police had posted officers before their attempt to interview the suspect. Miller said that when Mackey saw the officers he then shot himself. The coroner said the officers performed CPR on Mackey until EMS arrived. He died at the scene.

Officer was a married father of two with a third expected to be born sometime this summer. He was also a veteran.

My 90 year old grandpa goes to the same BK every morning, and has done so for the last 15+ years, for breakfast and has made friends with many of the employees. They greet him at his truck when he arrives and his sausage biscuit and coffee are on the counter waiting for him when he walks in.

I didn't know words could hurt, especially ones coming from a Burger King employee.

Just to add also, the shooter plead guilty to a strong armed robbery charge last year but through some plea agreement only served around 250 days.
