Go out of state.
Not very reputable breeders here.
Think my friends got theirs from Missouri or Kentucky.

I agree with this.
Unless you're thinking of showing the dog. Or getting a Dalmatian.
Mixed Dalmatians are hideous looking.

Heads up, Lots of health issues. Mine has to have a certain dogfood or she breaks out real bad and her hair falls out.

shite, my dog's sibli vs need special dog food and they're like, 8 way mutts. He's the only one without health issues or allergies.
Biggest problem I've heard with eng bulls is Jowl hygiene and they don't do well in heat.

Expensive. Health issue every other month. They also shed like crazy.
That being said, they are funny as hell and have a lot personality.

Best advice I can give on this is to not get one. Money pit dog that brings nothing to the table. Roommate had one and I have never hated a breed more.

They're fun, but they have some serious health issues, and both that my parents had (at different times) were very aggressive.

Same. My roommates bulldog had horrible health problems and was very aggressive. Legally if he has another run in where someone says he bit, they HAVE to put him down. He is uncontrollable.

If this is all you have “heard” then you have done zero research.
I have an EBD and yes, they do not tolerate heat very well at all. The jowell hygiene is news to me unless you are referring to cleaning their nose ropes and eyes if they get a buildup of yeast.
I’d advise you to join a couple English Bulldog forums and start reading. There is a wealth of knowledge on this breed. You should familiarize yourself with them before just getting one because they are awesome dogs, aside from health concerns.

Don’t do it. They’re absolute nightmares.

I have an English bulldog and he is awesome. I was worried about the health issues but we have had zero problems in 3 years. We paid more with a very good breeder here in AZ but well worth it. He is the coolest pet we have had and a lot of fun.

I looked into getting an English Bulldog at one time, but decided against it because of what I have heard about their skin problems and that they don’t do well being in the heat.
Just something you might want to look at before choosing to get one.

Great dogs, but even when you get ones from reputable breeders there is still a solid chance of major health problems. We ended up with a French bulldog, same temperament, great with kids, lazy, and not any health issues. Frenchies are considered a “trendy” dog at the moment, so you will pay more from a good breeder.

My parents' male was too. He was fine with family and was a blast, but every stranger was his enemy.

I’ve had two English bulldogs.
My first, Jack, passed away at 13 years old. We made the decision to put him down once his hind legs started giving out. (Hip issues happen with a lot of older dogs.)
Now we have a 1 y.o. EB and he is pretty healthy. We had some stomach issues for a bit. All we had to do was find the perfect kind of food for him. (Purina Pro Plan—Stomach And Skin)
They can’t be out in the heat for long periods of time and can get hot spots every now and then.
Crazy chewers until about 1.5 years old. Be prepared to invest in some heavy duty chew toys.
Like others said, major personality.
Never had any signs of aggression at all in either of them. Not even a growl.
