Sad that Texas tries to compete with us

It’s like a little brother that thinks they’re tough

Texas has higher cig taxes than LA? Since the O-T wants LA to be like TX, maybe we should raise Cig taxes here and lower income taxes.

$1.79 at the Shell/Brothers on Loyola, but they have super slow pumps. I pumped $20 in half as many minutes and gave up with a half tank.

Don’t be trashy and smoke and you won’t pay the tax

Am I the only person who doesn't pay attention to gas prices? I could not tell you what it is in my area and I have Chevron station next to my shop.(Can't see the sign from here) It amazes me though that people will go out of their way to save five cents a gallon.

You're not alone. I don't pay attention to them either. In my first post I googled gas buddy and looked at the place closest to me. They were the cheapest. I tell my wife the same thing you basically posted. If I need gas, I'm going to my regular place or the closest near by at the time with the lowest that I can see, but I won't hunt or pay attention to gas prices.

I haven't paid attention to gas prices since I was in college. When my car nears empty I look for the nearest place to fuel up that's not in the ghetto.

It is shocking to think back to ~2012-13 when gas was pushing $4 a gallon for regular.

I remember this because I had just gotten a truck at the time. Almost $100 to fill up from empty.

I hear people talking about gas prices and someone will say you should drive across town to xyz their gas is ten cents cheaper than anyone in town. I just shake my head. Why would you drive across town to save ten cents a gallon?

I know which areas have cheaper gas than others. five cents? no, but I'll drive off on those Chevron/Shell stations that charge 20 cents if you use a credit card.

I prefer Exxon or Shell to no name, I'll stop at Racetrack's as well. Chevron is always the most so I never go there.

You guys get that, and we get Illinois politicians thinking about pushing through a $.20-$.30 PER GALLON tax increase, on what is already some of the most expensive gas in the country.

Illinois is truly tGOAT corrupt state in the union.

quote:

Suburban mayors joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to ask Illinois lawmakers to raise the state's gas tax by 20 to 30 cents a gallon, a proposal that could make Illinois' motor fuel tax the highest in the nation and ensure that per gallon taxes increase yearly with the rate of inflation.

Couple that with insanely high (and soon to be rising) property taxes, among the highest sales tax in the country (~10%), a $.07/bag tax at the grocery store, $80/year city sticker for your car...we're dominating the bullshite "bleed your constituents dry" contest. If the $.01/oz soda tax would've stuck it would've been no contest.
