I've driven through it a number of times, ex gf was from Montgomery, LA (yes that is a real place) and her family hunted in Winn parish.
I still wouldn't exactly call that hill country. Yes, much more "hilly" than South Louisiana but still not exactly hill country of Texas, Mississippi, etc.
