Looks like he almost tagged him. Then he was pointing to the other ump like he confirmed the out.

Sucks either way.

That's on the catcher. He attempted the tag turned around and the ump signaled safe. Homeboy sees safe and still starts celebrating.

Dropped third strike (horrible call by the way but typical of high school umps). Batter becomes a runner. Throw to first you friggin idiot.

Correct me on this-- is it if the catcher drops the ball on strike 3 the batter can still run and try to get to first and the defense has to throw him out, and since they were so busy celebrating they just ran all the way and got two runs in?

I've seen this rule in theory so many times but never actually saw it work. Gotta remember your fundamentals fellas.

Why does everyone on both teams share the same first name? You can’t understand it from the outside and can’t believe it from within.

That is a terrible way to lose but also an amazing, heads up way to win.

Baseball is a game where “falling asleep” is a big problem. Every play, every pitch you gotta be in the game because you just don’t know what’s going to happen.

That’s the most difficult part of coaching kids in the game.

Yeah, good for the batter that he didn’t just stay in the batter’s box arguing with the ump about how terrible the strike call was

Catcher puts the ball in his back pocket. Catcher is to blame for the entire play.

They got a terrible called third strike and then lost the game on it.

Agreed but it’s probably the only time in history where the pitching team bitched about a bad third strike call.

Rules are rules. Terrible for those kids though. I love the coach arguing with the umpire when it’s his and his team’s own fault.

Home plate umpire signals safe.

And yes, both wearing red is terrible.

Not sure what the coach was trying to argue about. There were two out, 1st base was open, and the catcher dropped the ball. The rule is quite clear the batter can steal 1st in this instance. After that he’s a base runner can able to steal as far around as he can. It’s up to the defense to stop him. They didn’t. Game over.

That fricking sucks. I had a twelve year old team where my pitcher had 5 strikeouts in one inning. His breaking ball was brutal and my catcher couldn’t hold on to two of them.

Huge base running by the guy who was already on base as well. He could have seen them celebrating and just walked off, got passed by the batter, and the game would have ended. Instead he stayed in the base path and ran the bases.
