Except that it did

BOSTON (AP) — Three New Hampshire teenagers who police say assaulted and yelled racial slurs at a popular street performer in Boston who plays music while dressed as a bear could face hate crime charges.

The three boys appeared in court Monday on charges of assault and battery and disorderly conduct. A judge ordered them released to their parents’ custody.

Police say “Keytar Bear” was attacked Saturday near Faneuil Hall. They say the juveniles ripped off his mask and hit him several times while yelling racial slurs at him.

A witness told police one of the suspects slammed the musician’s face into the ground and vandalized his equipment before taking off with his tips.

And I mean I don't think BR is a model of some safe haven or anything. I don't know the numbers but I imagine they aren't exactly stellar for BR.

The fact that Nola has a metric shite ton more people coming through town as tourist that wouldn't show up as a per capita crime rate, but that's all pointless. Shitty crime problem is a shitty crime problem. No reason to split hairs imo

So New Orleans is the only place that this can happen? It's unfortunate that this occurred but it could have happened in his home town as well.

Keytar Bear is awesome. Performs outside of my office sometimes. Damn New Hampshire trash.

In fairness, this story came as such a surprise to people that they started a gofundme to replace his equipment. The goal was $500 and they're slightly over $10,000 now.
