I'm wondering if he had lights going; if so, driver in the vehicle which caused him to swerve should've moved out of the way. However, many times (more often than not) I've seen police flying on interstates/highways without lights (assuming on a call), running up on asses of vehicles so quickly, I was sure they would wreck. Don't know the particulars here, but any time cops are on an official call flying down the highway/interstate, they need to be lit up & siren on when in traffic.

If he was responding to a call fast he was running Code 3 (lights and sirens). At a minimum lights.

Do you get ticketed if you get a paper cut in the copy room? Accidents on the job happen...regardless of occupation. Leave it at that.

IS this a serious comparison? Do you ever get ticketed for a paper cut in any situation?

I've been called a bootlicker so many times on this site. I respect what they do, but they aren't above being held to similar standards as the people they serve.

Most officers, I'm sure, would agree that they have a responsibility to perform their jobs cautiously when there's a need to speed to a call requiring them to drive on an interstate or highway where undoubtedly there will be traffic no matter what time of day/night. Expecting them to operate their vehicles responsibly isn't "disrespecting" them, imo, and I think most of them would agree with that. Don't know the details & specifics of this case, but as I said, from experience I know many times they don't light up or use siren when flying down the highway or interstate, which is dangerous to others & themselves.

Ok. It was an activated alarm????? Why the rush???? I could understand more if it were shots fired, but anything can set off an alarm......

I'm sure that will be easy to determine from witnesses & cop's vehicle, and obviously if a driver doesn't move over when cop with lights and/or siren is behind him, driver of civilian vehicle is in the wrong. At any rate, hope the officer is ok & glad no one else was hurt.

I'm in law enforcement and from what I've heard, he was responding to a call (not sure the type of call), another vehicle was in left lane. Officer switches to right lane to pass that vehicle, but while doing so, the vehicle in left lane also switches to the same lane. Officer swerved back left to avoid that vehicle, lost control, and struck center wall then flipped his unit. Again, this is what I've heard so not sure how accurate that is.

That gives him the right to endanger others?

Doesn't change the fact that he was responsible or his wreck based on the info we have.

swerving to avoid another car means the cop was wrong? a bit too early to know if the other car panicked and cut the cop off

The officer was driving on I-12 between Millerville and Sherwood Forest Blvd. when he swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle.

After swerving, the officer lost control and hit the median.

Wonder how fast/aggressively he was driving?

That doesn't absolve the cop of using caution while overtaking vehicles responding to the call.

you're never gonna convince the anti-cop crowd. whatever the cop does will be wrong. drove too fast, didn't drive fast enough.....
