I agree with you. It's their land, their machinery, their child, their responsibility. And if she dies it will be their tragedy and their guilt. Our opinions really don't matter.

If you read an article about a child fighting for her life and the first thing you think about is fricking her aunt then you have issues. But that's just the type of person you are. Children make you think of sex.

How easy are seatbelts on those things to disengage? Some racing belts are not at all. If they are made for kids id assume pretty easily like just a push button? I'm not trying to use hindsight or anything, but this is one reason why you gotta be careful with little kids, yeah they are fine when it's a controlled situation but things tend to snowball a lot more when you are inexperienced.

Some have racing harness setups and some have regular belts. Someone who knows what she had would have to answer it.

It can be hard to get into some of these for an adult as well because the kid ones come with cages that bigger adults would have a hard time getting in to get access to the kid. They can put netting/ around the cage too, to stop things from getting into the cab.

yes a normal man can't get into one. from the pictures it looks like she was used to riding with no helmet and those are just stock belts. you have to install a harness bar in the 170 to fit aftermarket harnesses

I have no idea who you are or where you live, but there is a very good chance I won't, so you got that going for you.

They often park less than 2 miles from the ATV track.

For those of you who think there's absolutely nothing wrong with letting small children operate any machine that weighs over 100, 200, 300# and capable of moving over 20mph are idiots. Children don't have the strength, skill, experience, or decision making ability to operate these heavy, fast machines.

UPDATE

quote:

“With her father, mother and stepfather by her side, Maddie regained consciousness mid-day Tuesday, February 7,” the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Department tells PEOPLE in a statement provided by a Spears family rep. “The 8-year-old daughter of entertainer Jamie Lynn Spears was involved in an ATV accident at a family home Sunday in Kentwood, La. Paramedics resuscitated her and she was airlifted to a local hospital. She is aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident.” The statement continues: “Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking. Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.” On Sunday, Maddie was driving an ATV within view of Spears, 25, and her husband Jamie Watson when she took a hard right to avoid running over a nearby drainage ditch, causing the vehicle to “enter the pond” on her parents’ property, reads a police report obtained by PEOPLE Monday. “The ATV and child were instantly submerged in the water right before their eyes. Within seconds the child’s mother, stepfather and other family members reached the pond, dove in and attempted to rescue the child to no avail,” the report said. “The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV’s safety netting. Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters.” Following the accident, Spears’ family asked friends and fans for support, with older sister Britney Spears tweeting: “Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece” on Monday.
