I think the fact that it brings pedos a step closer to acting out their fantasies means it should be illegal.

while I agree all pedos are disgusting POS and deserve to be neutered, then killed, that opens the door for overreach with other laws and potential abuse of the power of the legal system

I’m a firm believer in chemical castration for pedos. That said, the issues around this kind of stuff are many and there’s a lot grey.

Actual pedos should be prosecuted and harshly punished.
In this case he used actual photos so that is a difference.
But if you do everything virtually, what is the crime? There is no human victim that was exploited. Seems a short hop for a government to criminalize other computer-based virtual activity.

once this catches on I don't know if anyone can keep up with all the people that will do this, law enforcement won't be able to prosecute everyone with a computer and technology to do it

When I read the thread title this is what I presumed was the case, but this seems like a slippery slope like another poster said. What if I play Grand theft Auto to simulate stealing cars and other crimes? Same theory would seem to fit.
I have no sympathy for pedos though, so no love lost here. The use of pictures of real kids does seem to nullify the argument of it being a "victimless" crime.

As disgusting as I find sexual predators to be, it's a fine line because this can easily be applied to violent video games and movies. I have severe questions about this this same conviction was made in the United States, but I hate kiddie diddlers with a passion so I'm not sure how up in arms I would get.

This type of stuff always amazes me. I've spent lots and lots of time on the internet. I've gone down plenty of rabbit holes. How in the world does one find themself in a chatroom where people are sharing kiddie porn. Is it possible to just accidentally come upon that type of stuff.
