And I'm older than that since not many people even had color TV's.

I think about being the last generation that will be able to explain life before phones became an intrusion on literally everything.
Anyone else remember going out to have a good time and nothing could intrude. You'd just have your fun time uninterrupted and wouldn't get the bad news until you got home.
Even at home you'd just take the ringer off the hook and live for the moment.

I hardly use my cellphone. If I make 30 calls a month, that's a lot. I don't text, take pictures or videos. I actually hate that I have one, but without a land line, it has become somewhat of a necessity for when I need it. This is especially true when out on the road on my motorcycle traveling down long stretches of state road in the middle of nowhere.
Kids today don't know what it's like to run out the house early in the morning and be gone pretty much all day long running around with your friends and having to be home by dark. Plus, not being tied to an umbilical cord called the cellphone where you can be called who knows how many times a day for mom to "See what my little darling is doing".
If we didn't get in trouble, hurt or killed, it was all good.

I had a flip phone until 3 years ago. Only reason I even got a smart phone was to accept rapid payments via app.
Where we live there is no cell service. All our entertainment comes via wifi. If I unplug the wifi we are back to the 80s
We eliminated social media 3 years ago and limit internet usage. I firmly believe it's one of the greatest decisions me and my wife have collaborated on.

I only have ever had a flip phone. I see no need for a smart phone in my life.
People see me put my phone down when out and I get one of two reactions. Some will laugh that I still have a flip phone and some will tell me they envy the fact I've not succumbed to more advanced technology and use it only as a phone when needed.

Little kids got confused by my flip phone. Like they couldn't believe it was real

I guess not if you count tiger droppings as social media. We don't have any of the instayoutwittokfaces which are the worst life diversions there are.
For me tigerdroppings is like an interactive newspaper. Great source of filtered news.
