Brightside Bar and Grill property at 1623 Brightside Drive has been sold to a Baton Rouge couple.

KD Rentals LLC recently closed the establishment, known for cold beer, boiled crawfish and  burgers. Lavakumar and Sangeetha Kanakamedala bought the property for $285,000.

Paula Davis, of Waters & Pettit Commercial Real Estate, represented the sellers. The new owners plan to renovate and add new services to the location.

Surprised the previous owners were able to keep it for as long as they did. They were some shady characters.

ETA: SIAP, searched and didn't see anything.

They did have some good food, but the service was god awful.

You would think a place at that location would make a killing but the owners of the establishment were so awful that they could never turn a profit.

Brightside was underrated. Decent food and pulled quite a bit of strange from there. My favorite hole in the wall

I worked there for about a year. There was a shitload of drugs going in and out of that place from the owners on down.

Saw a bartender deal coke to a customer during the middle of the day there.

Used to work there when it was Jackie's. Talk about some shady characters. The owners daughter ran it and was so high on God knows what that we hardly ever had any customers. Always knew it was primed for a hot spot with the right owners and Brightside bar and grill came out hoppin' Prime location, but as someone already mentioned, judging by the owners names : that's racist : they'll probably put in a gas station.

Well, at least the new authentic Cajun owners will know how to boil crawfish....
