I was being sarcastic. Pitts have their purpose and that purpose is to be strong, aggressive, and not let go once they grab a hold of something. I'm fine with somebody owning them if they keep them fenced in.

a child doesn't deserve to get murdered because they entered someone's chain link fence to grab their ball or something.

It does if you enter my fenced-in backyard, on private property. It's exactly how life works.

well no child deserves to die, but when I was little and playing whiffle ball, if I knew there were dogs over the fence, I wasn't going in. I did once and barely got out with my arse.

It's a tough situation no doubt

Dude if you're in good conscious ok with your dog murdering a child or a harmless old lady with good intentions that came on your property then you can go get fricked.

there are plenty of dogs that will bite if somebody enters the yard. I have a 15 lb yorkie/jack russel mix that will tear in to somebody if they jump the fence. Easy solution: don't go in my yard when you don't have a reason to. there is a sign on the gate warning you.

yes, i know there is a difference between my 15 lb dog giving somebody a few stitches and a pit bull tearing a kid in half. the principle is the same. stay out of places you have no business being.

no, murdering dogs belong in the zoo in cages, not behind this fence:

You can't tell your dog to pick and choose who can enter your property. Teach your child not to enter private property. Tell your child to ask daddy or momma to go knock on the owner's door and get the ball.

You as the owner of that animal have accepted responsibility on that animal's behavior and actions.

You've accepted responsibility on the dog's behavior. You have no problem with that, then that'll be on you if your dog murders someone's kid, would hate to be in your shoes.

Even in a strict liability state, you're usually not liable if your dog bites: a trespasser (someone who is on your property without your permission), or. someone who provokes the dog, by hitting it or otherwise acting aggressively toward it.

I don't know if I believe the neighbor, sounds like if her dog was attacked I'd be dead.
