BREAKING - DA refuses charges against Marines accused of rape

"Our office gave careful consideration to all evidence produced in the NOPD investigation of this case," Ken Daley, a spokesman for Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro, said. "In addition, our sex crime screeners thoroughly evaluated the statements provided to police by all parties involved in the events of April 15, and those given to prosecutors in several follow-up interviews. "Based upon these factors and the stated desires of the complainants, it was determined these charges should be refused."

If this is a flat out lie by her, then she needs to catch a charge.
I’m all for an actual rapist getting his time and due but this fake cry crap that keeps constantly showing up needs to stop.

The shame of it is these guys are done in the USMC. You don’t put the Corps in the news in this fashion and then have a career. I wonder if Tulane kicked that student out?

Allegations seemed sketchy from the start. Going to breakfast with some of the guys. Texting them. Seems more like regret than rape.

The DA can refuse the charges but they can still face court martial or NJP. Up to the commander

I've seen that before. When I was stationed at Camp Smith, a marine was accused of rape. What happened was she, the accuser, was married to another Marine who got deployed a few days earlier and was hanging out at the barracks and winded up sleeping with another marine. It took sometime before he was released from the brig, but I don't think his career ever recovered.
A problem we have nowadays is the outright scorn of due process and the support for unsubstantiated accusations. I can understand wanting victims to be able to come forward and I support victims coming forward but people need to understand an accusation can be made for any reason.
